Memories of Pre-Renewal Ragnarok

Ragnarok Online has always been the best MMORPG for me (not to mention those current 3D games around), maybe because of its simple gameplay and the "expect the unexpected" feeling while playing it.

Just so you know a little bit about the game itself, player characters interact in a 3D environment but are represented as 2D character sprites. Major changes in the game features and the stories, labeled as "episodes", take place as the history of the in-game world is written.

Talking about this major changes, one of them would be the recent update dubbed "Renewal", in which case a lot of changes in the game system are implemented.

Pre-Renewal Ragnarok escapades and stuff after the jump.

Soloing MVP Vesper

One of the classic pasttimes I have been into is boss hunting. Not to mention the possibility to gain rare items and boss cards, the fun never ends as you wait for the spawn time and the challenge to be first among the other boss hunters who have eyes for your target MVP. Vesper (right) has been one of my favorite targets.

Tao Gun Ka card in inventory. Sweet!

One regular afternoon in Pre-Renewal New Chaos server (pRO), somebody summoned a Bloody Branch (BB), with Tao Gun Ka as the resultant MVP. Luckily, I was the one who managed to own him big time and the next thing I knew, it dropped a card.

the 100th Floor of Endless Tower

Another challenge during the Pre-Renewal Ragnarok days is the Endless Tower (ET). Not as hard as it seems, but without the proper lineup, the expedition will most probably fail. Unlike the Renewal lineup for ET, a properly equipped 5-man team can finish it up to Naght Sieger.

A few days before we embrace Renewal, I roamed around Rune Midgard, Republic of Schwarzwald and the New World. The screenshot here's (left) one of my favorites. It's a tranquil and stunning scenery (in-game perspective hehe!).

To be honest, I really miss the Pre-Renewal Ragnarok game system. But as the saying goes, nothing's permanent except for change. Good thing the Renewal and 3rd job system made it easy for me to adapt.
